Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding Our Services

  • A second opinion is an independent review of your diagnosis or treatment plan by another rheumatologist.

It can confirm your current approach, provide new options, or bring clarity to complex or rare autoimmune conditions.

At Haus Health Rheumatology, we go Beyond a Second Opinion™ by combining Harvard-trained expertise with AI-assisted record review and lifestyle medicine insight — giving you an evidence-based, personalized roadmap for your care.

  • Any adult or child living with autoimmune, autoinflammatory, or unexplained inflammatory symptoms.

    You may benefit if you:

Want reassurance that your diagnosis or treatment plan is correct

    Have ongoing symptoms despite treatment

Feel uncertain about next steps or test results

Need a fresh perspective from experts who take time to listen

Even if you already have a rheumatologist, a second opinion can help refine your plan and bring peace of mind.

  • We evaluate most autoimmune and rheumatic diseases, including:

    • Lupus (SLE)

    • Rheumatoid arthritis

    • Still’s disease and juvenile arthritis

    • Vasculitis and periodic fever syndromes

    • Psoriatic arthritis and spondyloarthritis

    • Undiagnosed or complex inflammatory conditions

If your symptoms don’t fit a clear diagnosis, we’ll help identify patterns and guide the next diagnostic steps.

How It Works

  • Our service is 100% virtual and deeply personalized.

    We take time to:

    1. Review your medical records, labs, and imaging before your visit

    2. Meet via secure video, perform a guided physical exam, and listen carefully to your experience

    3. Analyze findings using AI tools and medical literature to uncover hidden insights

    4. Deliver a written report with recommendations for you and your local care team

You’ll receive the same academic-level expertise found in major medical centers — with more time, compassion, and clarity.

  • It means personalized, high-touch medical care — extended appointments, direct communication, and a thoughtful pace.

We focus on understanding your story, not rushing through it.

  • Before: You’ll upload your medical records, imaging, and lab results to our secure system. We’ll review everything carefully.

During: You’ll meet virtually with one or both of our physicians to discuss your symptoms, perform a guided exam, and address your questions.

After: You’ll receive a written summary with evidence-based insights, AI-supported findings, and next-step recommendations.

  • No referral is needed — you can book directly with us.

We encourage you to inform your primary doctor, as our consults are designed to complement, not replace, your existing care.

Cost, Coverage, and Logistics

  • We currently operate on a self-pay model.

Many patients use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for their consultation.

We’ll also provide an itemized invoice you can submit for possible reimbursement (coverage depends on your plan).

Our pricing is transparent — no hidden fees or surprise bills.

  • We can typically accommodate new consults within a week.

Our practice accepts a limited number of new patients each month to ensure personalized attention, but we do our best to accommodate urgent requests.

  • You’re still welcome to see us.

We can help interpret your symptoms, suggest appropriate tests, and recommend next steps — then coordinate with your local physician for follow-up care

Privacy, Prescriptions, and Follow-Up

  • We don’t prescribe medications or order tests directly.

Instead, we provide a detailed plan that you can share with your local doctor, ensuring you receive coordinated and safe care close to home.

  • Your privacy is a top priority.

We use HIPAA-compliant, encrypted platforms for all communication and data storage.

Your records are reviewed only by our physicians and are never shared or used for research or AI training without your explicit consent.

  • Yes — with your permission, we’re happy to share your report or speak with your primary doctor or rheumatologist.

Our goal is collaboration, not competition.

  • You can reach out via secure message for brief follow-up questions.

If you develop new symptoms or need more in-depth guidance, we’ll schedule a follow-up consultation to review your case thoroughly.
